The newly renovated Clock Tower at Lal Chowk in Srinagar has become a popular tourist attraction since its inauguration on August 14. The tower, refurbished under the Smart City project, has been praised for its architecture and is expected to boost local business. The mayor and municipal corporation commissioner have hailed the tower as a symbol of hope and prosperity. The Clock Tower, also known as Ghanta Ghar, holds significance in Kashmir’s political history. The Smart City project, which began in 2017, has an estimated cost of ₹2,869 crore.
