The University Grants Commission (UGC) has expressed dissatisfaction over the report sent by Jadavpur University on an alleged ragging incident that led to a student’s death. The UGC has reprimanded the university for providing a “generic” report lacking specific details. The UGC has asked Jadavpur University to inform them if the provisions of UGC regulation on curbing ragging are implemented, and to prioritize the eradication of ragging. The UGC’s follow-up is meant to send a message to all colleges to prioritize the eradication of ragging. The West Bengal police have arrested a total of 9 people in the case.
