Tripura forms panel to review compensation for kin of political violence victims

Tripura CM Manik Saha has formed a committee to review steps required to be taken for the families of victims of political violence in the state. Tripura has recorded the highest number of cases of political violence among all northeastern states, according to NCRB’s report for 2021. Saha handed over a cheque of INR 2 lakh to the family of BJP activist Tapan Bhowmik, who died on March 2, and said that the government was considering giving a job to a family member. The CPI(M) claimed that its activists were attacked first in the incident.
