Polling in Muslim areas of Chakia and old city in Uttar Pradesh remained peaceful, with heavy police presence and the use of body-worn cameras and drones to monitor troublemakers. However, there were a few incidents of altercations between supporters of different candidates over allegations of proxy voting. The areas are known for being strongholds of gangsters-turned-politicians Atiq Ahmed and Khalid Azeem, both of whom were killed in police custody in April.
